Cẩm Phả Stadium or Sân vận động Cẩm Phả in Vietnamese is the home ground of V.League 1 side Than Quảng Ninh F.C. Multi-purpose by design, the stadium is capable of accommodating 15,000 supporters.
During the 2010/2011 season Cẩm Phả Stadium underwent 37 billion Vietnamese Dong’s worth of renovation work in order to modernise the ageing facilities. The work was much needed at the time and has been widely welcomed by supporters of the club.
Now regarded as the premier ground within the Quảng Ninh Province, the investment which amount to $1.7 million USD saw numerous improvements. All four stands were upgraded and some sections of seating at the back were converted into press boxes and broadcast studios.
Budget was also allocated to other facilities such as the state-of-the-art floodlights, electronic scoreboard and the athletics track which was replaced with a more durable material. Last, but not least, the number of parking spaces was increased in order to ease match day congestion.
So far the renovation works have proven to be a success with Than Quảng Ninh F.C earning promotion back to the highest tier of Vietnamese football after finishing Runners-Up in V.League 2 during the 2013 season.
Although the games were won and lost by the players, the improved infrastructure and facilities at Cam Pha Stadium undoubtedly played a part!
