Stadium Guide

History

The Patriot Stadium took just under four years to construct, beginning in 1980 and finishing in time for West Java’s Annual Sports Week in 1984.

Envisioned as the centre piece of this regional competition, the stadium was designed to be multi-purpose and has only come to be associated closely with the sport of football in recent years.

In fact the use of the stadium by local football club Persipasi Bandung Raya and the formation of the Indonesian Super League in 2008 were arguably the two main catalysts of Stadion Patriot’s modernisation.

Large scale renovation work occurred between 2012 and 2013, shutting the stadium down for a period just under 1 year. The objective of the work was to upgrade the facilities up to International standards for both athletics and football.

The inaugural match of the new stadium was played on March 15th 2013 between Persipasi Bekasi and visitors Persija Jakarta who triumphed 2-nil on this occasion.
