Ronaldo and Messi for Portugal and Argentina

Football or Soccer is still the most popular sport on a global basis and one of the best games to follow for fans. This is even truer for those of us who travel around the world to catch matches in the best stadiums around. Although this is hard now due to it being offseason for most of the major leagues worldwide, the ability to take in the action at various stadiums around the soccer world will be with us again soon.

It is not just domestic soccer which fans have to look forward to later this year though. The World Cup is also due to take place in Qatar in November and this is an event soccer fans are getting excited about. This is especially true if you plan to travel to Qatar and see what fabulous stadiums they have to enjoy. The build-up to this competition has also included people starting to think about not only who could win the tournament but also beginning to place World Cup soccer 2022 wagers.

Betting on this premier soccer tournament not only helps you to learn more about it by researching bets but also adds more fun to watching games when it starts. But which teams are looking likely to have the best chance of winning World Cup 2022?

Brazil

Whether you plan to watch on TV or get out to Qatar’s soccer stadiums for World Cup 2022, Brazil are the favorites with odds of around +450 currently. But why are they looking likely to make a major challenge for the trophy this time around?

The major advantage they have is a very strong squad which perfectly blends experience with youth. When you have top players such as Richarlison, Neymar, Ederson, Fabinho and Vinicius Junior to call on, then you know you have a chance!

Brazil has also been in great form recently and went 17 games unbeaten at one point to top their qualifying group. When you add in their ability to perform on the big occasion and their enviable history in this tournament, they look dangerous.

England

Any list of possible World Cup 2022 winners must include England. Although a recent 4-0 home loss to Hungary has raised concerns pre-tournament, manager Gareth Southgate should still steer his team to a decent showing. After all, Southgate has done very well in his last two major tournaments with England and obviously has the knowhow to navigate this kind of competition.

As with Brazil, England has a squad stuffed full of top-level players to call on. People such as Harry Kane, Raheem Stirling, Phil Foden and Mason Mount certainly have the talent to make their mark in World Cup 2022. With experience in playing on the big stage for club and country, they should help England do well.

France

As the reigning world champions, France has every right to be seen as the potential winner once again. As with England though, recent poor performances, such as two home defeats and two away draws in June 2022, have dampened the mood around Les Bleus.

This should not take away the quality they have in their ranks though or the chance they have to win the World Cup again. Their two standout players who need to shine are Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe. If they can carry on scoring and coach Didier Deschamps can get his tactics right, France will be a threat.

Argentina

With odds of around +800 at most sportsbooks, Argentina also looks to have a real chance. Lionel Scaloni’s team went unbeaten in qualifying, and this means confidence will be sky high in their camp. They also have some great players to rely on, such as Lionel Messi, Lisandro Martinez and Paulo Dybala.

You also get a feeling that the script is almost written for them to win. After all, it has been 36 years since their last triumph and this is the last World Cup that Lionel Messi may play in. It would make quite the story for him to bring home the trophy on his final bow and after such a long time.

Who might win World Cup 2022?

As the above shows, there are a few major teams who look set to mount a real challenge in the upcoming World Cup. Of course, there are also some other strong teams who could show up as well as underdogs who might surprise us all! Whatever happens, it is sure to provide lots of exciting action to fans who have travelled to Qatar’s stadiums in person to catch the action as well as for those who are simply watching on TV.
