Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has backed up reports that Kane wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur. According to the transfer guru, Kane is interested in leaving to win trophies, but Spurs hold all the aces in terms of selling him on. Transfermarkt values Kane at £108 million. It is a fee that may be difficult for a club to come up with this summer – especially with Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland potentially available. So, where does Kane end up, if he leaves Tottenham Hotspur?
Manchester City
Kane has hinted at wanting to move to Manchester City. With the Cityzens perpetually in the running for trophies each season, it makes sense that England’s best striker would want to join the club. Yet, Kane doesn’t seem to make much sense from a playing perspective for Manchester City. Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, and the other strikers used by Pep Guardiola are more dynamic than Kane. Sure, Kane has become a better goal creator at Spurs this season with 13 league assists, but on paper, he doesn’t fit the mould of a Guardiola striker. If Kane joins Manchester City, it could be similar to Barcelona’s signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic when Guardiola was at the club.
Manchester United
Manchester United need a striker. For all the goals that Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood score, the trio are inconsistent. Kane would provide that consistency and fit in nicely with Bruno Fernandes pulling the strings as the team’s No. 10. If the club could sell Paul Pogba, they would certainly fund Kane’s transfer. Kane’s 22 league goals for Spurs are more than Manchester United top scorer Fernandes’ 18. Kane also has 13 assists, one more than Fernandes. Kane’s price tag could be too high for Manchester United, however.
Barcelona or Real Madrid
There is no question money won’t be readily available for Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer. After years of financial mismanagement, the clubs are both scrapping together funds. It is their lack of money that prompted them to push for the European Super League. Although neither have much cash lying around, they both hope to make big splashes in the transfer market. Kane’s name has been bounced around. However, it is doubtful either will have the money to make the transfer. Barcelona are looking at several free transfers – Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay to name two – while Real Madrid still somehow believe they can land Kylian Mbappe.
