Al Kuwait Sports Club Stadium is famous for having hosted the Kuwaiti National Team’s Qualification matches of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Kuwait progressed through the preliminary rounds to reach the group stages of qualification but failed to qualify for the main tournament after recording a last place finish. Kuwait finished fourth with four points behind Syria, United Arab Emirates and Iran.
The stadium also hosted every match of the Kuwait National Team many moons ago during the 1974 Gulf Cup of Nations.
