Linzer Stadion History

First opened in 1952, the stadium was constructed on the former site of Froschberg-Brickworks factory and is informally known as Stadion Auf der Gugl” due to its hilltop location within the city of Linz.

Linzer Stadium was most recently renovated in 2012 with the installation of the popular rail seating which permits safe standing. The stadium’s capacity is now officially given as 18,000 however additional supporters could be accommodated by converting more seating sections to terraces.
