Stadion Juliska History

The inaugural football match at Stadion Juliska was held on the 10th July 1960 against Wiener SK in the Mitropa Cup. Attended by 10,000 supporters, Dukla christened the stadium by defeating the Austrian visitors 2-1. Owned by Czech Republic’s Ministry of Defense, the stadium is multi-purpose and is often used to host athletics competitions.

After spending 49 seasons at Stadion Juliska, FK Dukla Prague merged with FC Portál P?íbram in 1996 to become a new club known as 1. FK P?íbram, and vacated the stadium the following season after moving to Na Litavce. The last home game was to be played on 1st June 1997 against Banikov Haví?ov which ended in a 2-2 draw.

With no resident football team the government invested 28 million Czech Koruna into redeveloping the stadium in line with International Association of Athletics Federations Standards. This meant that and an all-weather running track was installed into the municipally owned stadium.

As a response to their team merging and relocating homes, a group of fans adopted Dukla Dejvice as their new club, and within a few seasons they were playing in Dukla Prague’s yellow and red colours, and in Dukla Prague’s Juliska Stadium. After entering the Prague Championship in 2001,  the spiritual successor made a triumphant returned to the Czech Top League a decade later in 2011.

As per the Czech Football Association requirements, the club were required to install under-soil heating and install 2,270 new seats at their stadium if it was to meet league requirements. Although the club missed they 22nd October target against Jablonec, the work was completed a weeks later.
