History
Since opening in 1985 Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium has regularly hosted football matches of the Qatar Stars League and high-profile Athletics Tournaments such as the Qatar Athletic Super Grand Prix, and the 2010 Diamond League.
Equipped with an athletics track around the perimeter of the pitch, even the furthest away seats in the ground are afforded decent views thanks to the compact design of the stands which seats 15,000.
The highest profile football matches held at Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium to date have undoubtedly been those of the 2011 AFC Asian Cup. It was one of five venues selected for the international tournament which was hosted by Qatar.
