Thani bin Jassim Stadium is a 25,000 capacity multi-purpose stadium located within the municipality of Al Rayyan in Qatar. Predominantly used to host matches of the Qatar Stars League, it is commonly referred to as Al-Gharrafa Stadium.
Provisionally selected as one twelve venues of the 2022 World Cup, it is widely expected that Thani bin Jassim Stadium will undergo substantial renovation ahead of the tournament including a multi-coloured façade which is said to represent tolerance and respect.
With the addition of a second tier of modular seating the capacity will increase to 44,470 for the duration of the games before returning to normal after the conclusion of the tournament.
Thani bin Jassim Stadium already has substantial International pedigree having hosted Group matches of the AFC Asian Cup in 2011.
